As of December 2020, I have visited all Untied Nations Member Countries for a total of 193 UN recognized countries (plus 2 UN observers ). As a so called 'Extreme Traveler' I will focus on experiences and adventures rather than ticking off a list at this point.
Sometimes out of necessity but I have come to enjoy the time alone to think and reflect especially in a remote, quiet destination. Also, no one else wants to take that much time off of work or join me on my crazy adventures!
I went on a trip in high school with a friend and her boyfriend whose family had a house in Belize. We flew down in a private plane, I learned how to scuba dive, ate ceviche and walked barefoot around the island. I was hooked! However I didn't truly start traveling until I had the time and money after I finished grad school.
As a Country Counter or Extreme Traveler, this is the most common question I get asked and, frankly, my most disliked question. There are so many wonderful places in the world with so much to offer. How could I possibly pick one? I have never met a country I didn't like. When I complete a trip, I always say I want to go back and I am already planning what I would like to do on my next trip to that destination. It never ends!
